As we age, our lips slowly become thinner. Like other areas of your face, thinning lips are due to the breakdown of fat pads underneath the skin. The skin on your lips does not produce oil or sweat and therefore is easily susceptible to drying & cracking. Age and environmental factors will change the appearance of your lips.

The bottom lip will become dry if you have not had enough water intake, and dryness of the top lip comes from environmental factors such as weather or contact allergies.

Lines around the mouth will be visible from repetitive movements like talking or smoking.

These changes will be evident from your thirties but will be more noticeable with age and without the proper care or intervention.

2. Keep your water intake at a minimum of 1 litre a day. And make sure your diet includes water-rich fruit and vegetables

3. Avoid repetitive movements – drinking from straws, smoking, sucking on water bottles or doing duck lipped selfies.

4.Outline the outside of your lips with a lip pencil before applying lip colour

5. Laser treatment to stimulate collagen. The Laser heats the deep layers of the lips and stimulates collagen production. Both The outside of the lips and surrounding skin are treated along with the inner lips to stimulate collagen from both sides

6. Cosmetic Surgery procedures of Gel Lip Fillers. You want to be careful about selecting a Cosmetic injector. Too much filler can make your lips look unnatural. A new treatment is the “Botox Flip” this treatment relaxes the muscles that cause puckering and allows other lip muscles to subtly ‘flip’ the lip outward for a fuller look

7. And of course, DIY temporary home treatment of cinnamon or cayenne pepper applied to swell the lips. Make sure you have no allergy before trying this.
